Ruta joined Gibson Thornley Architects in 2025, drawn to the studio’s thoughtful approach to materiality, detailing and its work across a range of building typologies. She has over a decade of experience working in London, contributing to projects of varying scales, from a compact 8m² micro museum for the V&A to large-scale laboratory and campus developments.

Prior to joining the practice, Ruta developed strong expertise in the residential sector at Hawkins\Brown, where she contributed to the design and delivery of several housing projects. She has a particular interest in sustainable approaches, with a focus on retrofit and working with existing fabric, as demonstrated through her work on the Grade II listed Haringey Civic Centre.

She brings a thoughtful and detail-oriented approach to design, with an interest in how new interventions can sensitively engage with their context. She believes good architecture should enhance everyday life through careful use of materials, clarity of design and a considered response to their surroundings.
