Hyowon joined Gibson Thornley Architects in 2025, drawn to the practice’s approach to creating spaces that bring together enjoyment, practicality and elevated aesthetics. She completed her Part 1 architectural education at Kingston University, where she received the Portfolio Award in 2024 and the Sustainability Award in 2025. She has a particular interest in how architecture can remain meaningful over time, not only through its physical qualities, but through the way it supports the people who use it. She enjoys responding creatively to challenges that arise throughout the design process, while creating spaces that balance functionality with a sense of connection. For Hyowon, good architecture is considered and enduring. It should age well, continue to be valued by the people who use it, and create a sense of belonging.
